Hi, I’m Becky Upton, a solution focused hypnotherapist.
I help people overcome stress, anxiety, phobias, smoking, and performance challenges so they can feel calmer, more confident, and back in control.
Using solution focused hypnotherapy, I combine gentle hypnosis with practical, forward-looking conversation. Rather than focusing on the past or analysing problems, we focus on what you want instead-building on your strengths and taking small, positive steps toward change.
By working with your brain’s natural ability to adapt, this approach helps you create lasting shifts in how you think, feel, and respond.
I offer sessions online or from my studio in Lydden, Dover, Kent.
What is solution focussed hypnotherapy?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a modern, evidence-based approach that combines positive, forward-focused conversation with the deeply relaxing effects of clinical hypnosis.
Rather than dwelling on the past or asking you to revisit difficult experiences, we focus on where you want to get to, exploring what's already working in your life and building on your own strengths and resources to help you move forward. It's a refreshingly positive way to work.
Each session has two parts. We begin with a relaxed conversation, using carefully crafted questions to help you identify what you'd like to be different and to recognise the progress you're already making. We then move into hypnosis — a safe, natural state of focused relaxation where your mind becomes more open to positive change. Most people find this part of the session deeply enjoyable and restful.
You remain in full control throughout. Hypnosis is nothing like the stage hypnosis you might have seen on TV — it's simply a calm, comfortable experience that helps reinforce the changes you're working towards at a deeper level.
SFH can help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, low mood, sleep difficulties, confidence, and unwanted habits. It works by gently shifting your mind away from unhelpful patterns and towards a more positive, solution-focused way of thinking — and change can often happen more quickly than you might expect.
