1. Our Working Relationship

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is about focusing on your goals. I’ll ask the right questions, challenge stuck patterns, offer fresh strategies, and support you in creating the change you deserve.
You bring commitment. I bring tools. Together, we create your personal success story.

2. What Hypnotherapy Is (and Isn’t)

• A catalyst for mindset change, resilience, confidence, and habit-shifting.

• Not a substitute for medical advice, psychiatric care, or diagnosis. If you have medical concerns, consult your doctor.

3. Your Commitment

• Show up on time and ready to engage.

• Be open and honest about your health and circumstances.

• Take action outside of sessions if agreed.

Real change requires real commitment — and I know you've got it.

4. Smoking/Vaping Cessation Therapy

• Personal motivation is essential for success.

• Success rates vary — some clients require more than one session.

• Any smoking/vaping paraphernalia given to me will be responsibly disposed of. No reimbursements will be provided.

5. Confidentiality

All personal information and session content remains confidential, except where:

• You disclose intent to harm yourself or others.

• You disclose plans to commit a serious crime (e.g. terrorism, murder).

• I am compelled by law or court order.

• I consult with a professional supervisor (done anonymously).

If we see each other in public, I will not approach you unless you approach me first.

6. Booking, Payment & Sessions

• Session fee: £80 per hour.

• Payment is required upon booking or at the first session unless otherwise agreed.

• Accepted methods: bank transfer or cash.

• Therapy packages are non-refundable, but may be transferred to a family member at my discretion.

7. Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refunds

• 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.

• Cancellations within 24 hours or non-attendance will incur the full session fee.

• Prepaid packages are non-refundable but may be rescheduled within 12 months of purchase.

• After three failed rescheduling attempts, prepaid sessions will be forfeited.

• If I need to cancel, I will aim to provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

8. Late Arrivals

If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time to respect other bookings. Full payment is still required.

9. Ethical Standards

I am a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy and abide by its code of ethics.
Therapy will be discontinued if a client’s behaviour is abusive, inappropriate, or threatens safety or ethical boundaries.

10. Limitation of Liability

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool, but you are ultimately responsible for your own decisions, actions, and outcomes after therapy.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of your therapy experience, please raise it with me directly. All concerns will be addressed promptly and respectfully.

12. Updates to Terms

These terms may be updated periodically. Significant changes will be communicated directly where appropriate.

13. GDPR Privacy Notice

How Your Data is Stored

• Paper notes: kept in a locked cabinet.

• Digital files: stored securely with password protection and encryption.

• Only Becky Upton has access unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Data Retention

• Client records are retained for 8 years after your final session.

• For clients under 18: records are kept until their 25th birthday (or 26th if they were 17 at treatment end).

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your data

• Request corrections

• Request deletion (subject to legal/insurance requirements)

All valid requests will be processed within 30 days.

Limits to Confidentiality

Information may be disclosed without consent if:

• There is risk of serious harm to yourself or others

• A serious criminal offence is disclosed

• A legal/court order requires disclosure

Data Breach Policy

• You will be notified promptly of any breach affecting your data.

• Serious breaches will be reported to the ICO within 72 hours.
